I'm Jacintha
Verdegaal
Hi, I'm Jacintha! Thanks for visiting Urban Pixxels.
I started this website in 2013 when I moved from the Netherlands to London. At the time, Urban Pixxels was mostly a collection of my London tips: what to do and - very often - where to eat.
But it soon became all about travel and photography (and sometimes just some random thoughts). There's nothing I love more than traveling the world with my camera. And then sharing my photos, videos, experiences and tips with you guys.
A lot has happened since I published that first blog post. My photos are being used in magazines like Condé Nast Traveller, I've co-written a '48 hours in London' travel guide for National Geographic, and have been listed several times as one of the best travel accounts to follow on Instagram. Pretty cool!
In 2017, after a 3 month sabbatical during which I traveled non-stop, I moved back to the Netherlands. I'm currently living in The Hague (Den Haag) and still try to travel as often as I can. Which is sometimes challenging with a full-time job....
Fortunately, living in Europe means it’s so easy to fly or take the train on the weekend and explore an interesting city in another country. Or even in The Netherlands. Since now that I'm back, I want to show you that there's a lot more to do and see here besides Amsterdam.
I’m really hoping that my photos, videos and tips will inspire you to plan some amazing trips all over the world. I’d love to hear about it!
Urban Pixxels is all about travel inspiration and information for the traveler who wants to explore the most interesting destinations in the world; prefers design boutique hotels over hostels; is always looking for the hidden gems; and believes that exploring the local food culture is just as important as sightseeing.
